Complete restoration of a 13th century "aisled hall house" with a half timber-framed structure.

The farm in Kruishoutem likely dates back to the 13th century and originally developed from a hall house type. This medieval house form consisted of a large central hall with a hearth, opened up to the roof ridge and surrounded by smaller rooms. Although the building evolved over time, traces of this original hall structure are still visible in the timber frame construction, particularly in the layout of the central space and the structural framework. These elements indicate that the farmhouse preserves important evidence of its early medieval architectural form.

Interesting wall paintings that are likely dating back to the 14th century were also discovered, depicting various medieval figures.

The project, based on the historic studies, will reconstruct the timber-framed structure according to its original appearance while conserving and integrating all the remaining elements.
